Good Help Is Hard To Find

Boy, do I have some great helpers!! Their napping abilities are phenomenal and really provide the best assistance in getting our house packed! I don't know how I could've gotten our entire house into boxes and ready for storage without them! ;)

I'm really kidding...we just like giving each other a hard time and today is my turn! :) Chris has actually been a great help getting boxes ready for me and running errands for more supplies while I pack. I really couldn't have done it without him!

Pete, on the other hand, has been absolutely no help at all!

We'll have to have a talk about doing his fair share...

Oh, Pete, it's ok....I forgive you...

I know that whole "being a spoiled dog" thing is really tough work on it's own!

(Side note: Please ignore the styrofoam crumbles on my rug...a hazard of packing.)

But seriously guys?!?!?!? Come on!

I've got a new niece in Houston that needs me!!!

I'm an Aunt!!!!

Emily Bly Posson
My sister, Andrea, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl today, March 19th, at 8:51pm in Houston, Texas! She weighs 6 lbs. 11 ounces and is 19 inches long.

I think the only way I could be more excited is if I had had her myself! It's absolutely killing me that I can't be there to hold her and love her and hug my sister and brother-in-law, Ben, right now! This little beauty is great motivation to hurry up and get our house packed so we can head home to Texas and see her!

We love you Ben, Andrea, and baby Emily!!

Caught on Camera

Our house on base is very close to Oceanside Harbor. In fact, it's only about a 10-15 minute walk from our front door to the harbor and then about another 10 around the harbor to the ocean. We take full advantage of being so close just about every chance we get and go for walks quite often. (Something I will dearly miss when I move back to Texas!) We have seen lots of marine life on these walks: seals, sea lions, pelicans, and once were even lucky enough to spot two whales just off the coast!

This past Saturday Chris and I decided to take a break from packing/cleaning out the garage and take Pete for a walk. Chris grabbed my camera off the counter saying, "You never know what you might want to blog about..." (What would I do without him?!?) It turned out to be a good thing he did! A pretty big sea lion was perched on one of the docks, barking and swaying its head back and forth, putting on a pretty good show....and I got some pictures! I'm by no means a great photographer, and we were on the side of the harbor opposite of where the sea lion was, so the pictures are not that close...but if you click on them, they should blow up large enough to see the guy pretty well!

I usually hear the sea lions barking at night when I take Pete out, so it was a treat to finally see it in action. We've lived here for almost 9 months now, and have seen plenty of wildlife in the water, but for Central Texas folk like us, I don't think we'll ever get used to having marine life in our back yard!

Just Do It Already!!!

We're starting a blog!

I really enjoy reading other blogs and I've toyed with this idea since we were married and moved to California in June, but I always talked myself out of it for fear of not keeping up with it. It's no secret that I am beyond your average perfectionist (wonder where I get that from???...Dad!) so I didn't want to start something that I thought I might not do a good job of finishing. But anyway... I've finally decided to bite the bullet and convinced myself that I don't have to be a crazy Nazi-blogger but just update when I have something new to share! (I know you all think I'm crazy by now, and that's ok. I've learned to embrace it ;)! )

For those of you who don't already know, Chris is deploying to Afghanistan in April. We found out that he will at least have limited access to the internet, so this blog will do a great service of keeping him updated with pictures and stories besides just emails while he's overseas. We're not sure where our home will be when he comes back in November/December so this will also be a great way for our family and the friends we've made along the way to keep up with us as we move across the country in this crazy military life! :)

We've decided to move me back home to Texas while Chris is deployed, so we'll be super busy these next few weeks packing and moving everything into storage and me and Pete (our precious Yorkie) home with my parents.

But I'm sure I'll have time to blog in the process...right?? Sheesh, it's already starting...
